How to sell event tickets online with QR entry at the gate

Sell event tickets online by UPI, card or wallet, sell printed tickets through shops and agents, and scan QR code tickets at the gate on any phone.

What you need to sell event tickets online in India

To sell event tickets online and check people in at the gate, you need a booking page buyers can pay on by UPI, a ticket that cannot be copied and reused, and a way to check those tickets at the door. MJX Events, from MJX Technologies, does all three: it sells tickets and passes online by UPI, card or wallet, sends every buyer a QR pass, and turns any phone into the gate scanner so each pass gets in once.

Most events in India do not sell only online. A college fest sells through class representatives, a garba night through a few shops in the neighbourhood, a club night at the counter on the evening itself. A system that handles only the online sale leaves the organiser reconciling paper stubs by hand, so the counter and the shop belong in the same place as the booking page.

The gate is where most ticketing goes wrong. A paper list at the door is slow, and a printed pass or a screenshot of one can be photocopied and forwarded. A QR code on its own does not stop that. What stops it is a scanner that checks each code against a live list and refuses one that has already been used.

How to sell event tickets online with MJX Events, step by step

Setting up an event takes a few minutes on a phone. You can start on the free plan and move to a paid plan later if you run events regularly.

  1. Sign up on MJX Events and start on the free plan, or pick a paid plan if you organise events often.
  2. Create the event: give it a date, a venue and the ticket types you want to sell — general, VIP, a couple pass, a day pass.
  3. Share the event link on WhatsApp, in your groups and wherever your audience already is. Buyers open it in the phone’s browser and install nothing.
  4. Buyers pay by UPI, card or wallet. Each one gets a QR ticket by email and on WhatsApp, as a PDF they can show on the phone or print.
  5. Each online sale is sent on to your bank account automatically, so you do not need a payment gateway account of your own.
  6. Follow sales, attendees and payouts from your phone as the bookings come in.

How to sell printed tickets through shops, agents and a counter

Printed tickets still matter — for buyers who prefer cash, for the shop that has sold your passes for years, for the person who walks up on the day. In MJX Events you print a batch of QR tickets for each shop or agent and hand it over. Each seller marks sales on their own phone, so you can see what has sold without waiting for the stubs to come back.

The part that protects the organiser happens at the gate. A printed stub that nobody marked sold is refused, so a ticket that went missing from a batch cannot be used to get in. Tickets sold for cash at the counter are paid to you directly.

If you already printed tickets somewhere else, you do not have to reprint them. Add their QR codes to the event — by pasting them, from a CSV file, or by scanning the printed tickets — and they work at the gate too, once each.

How to check guests in with QR passes at the gate

The gate needs no hired scanner and no special hardware. Any smartphone with a camera becomes the pass checker, and every gate can have its own phone.

  1. Send each gatekeeper the scanner link on WhatsApp.
  2. The gatekeeper opens the scanner and enters the event PIN. The scanner opens nothing else — no sales, no attendee list, no payouts.
  3. Point the phone camera at the guest’s QR, whether it is on their phone or on paper.
  4. Read the answer in under a second: green means valid, amber means already scanned, and red means the ticket is not valid or is a printed ticket that was never sold.
  5. If a QR is torn, smudged or behind a cracked screen, type in the short code printed under it instead.
  6. Keep an eye on the live checked-in count while the gates are open.

How QR code tickets stop duplicate and fake passes

Every ticket carries its own QR, and each one is admitted once. When a guest forwards a screenshot of their pass to a friend, whoever arrives second shows as amber — already scanned — on the gatekeeper’s phone. That holds even when two gates scan the same ticket at the same moment, which is exactly when a shared pass tends to be tried.

A QR from outside your event shows as not valid. A printed ticket that was never sold shows as not sold. The gatekeeper does not have to judge anyone or argue at the door; the colour on the screen makes the decision, and the volunteer holding the phone sees nothing about your sales or your money.

Couple, family and multi-day passes for fests, garba nights and concerts

MJX Events is built for the way events in India actually run: garba and Navratri nights selling season, couple and daily passes; college fests and school functions; concerts, New Year and club nights; workshops, conferences, exhibitions and fairs; marathons, sports, community and temple events.

A ticket type can admit two people as a couple pass, or more as a family pass, with a QR for each person when it is sold online. It can also be valid on one day, some days or every day of the event, and it is admitted once on each of its days — so a season pass gets in once a night, not as often as it is shown.

For a small event there is a free plan, with one event live at a time. Free events can be given QR entry passes too, which is useful for a workshop or a community function where nothing is charged but you still want to know who came in.

Selling a ticket is the easy half of running an event. The half that decides how the evening goes is the gate, where every pass — sold online or over a counter — has to get in exactly once.

Questions people ask

How do I sell event tickets online in India?

Create the event on MJX Events with its date, venue and ticket types, then share the link on WhatsApp. Buyers pay by UPI, card or wallet, get a QR ticket by email and on WhatsApp, and each sale is sent on to your bank account automatically.

Yes. With MJX Events any smartphone with a camera becomes the gate scanner: the gatekeeper opens the link you send, enters the event PIN and scans. No special scanner or hardware is needed.

No. Each MJX Events pass is admitted once, so a forwarded copy shows as already scanned — even when two gates scan the same ticket at the same moment.

Yes. In MJX Events you give each shop or agent a batch of printed QR tickets, each seller marks sales on their own phone, and a printed stub that nobody marked sold is refused at the gate.

No. Buyers book on the MJX Events page in their browser, and the QR ticket arrives by email and on WhatsApp as a PDF, to show on the phone or on paper at the gate.

Is MJX Events free for a small event?

MJX Events has a free plan for small events, with one event live at a time, and paid plans for organisers who run events regularly. Current limits and prices are on the product’s own site.
