Printing tips
- Give your printer the SVG file. It stays sharp at any size.
- Print it at least 2 cm wide on a card, and bigger the further away people will stand.
- Keep the white border around the code. Phones need it to find the edges.
- Dark code on a light background scans best. Test one print with two different phones before printing many.
Safe to scan
A tracked QR sends people through an MJX link, so MJX checks where it goes. Links to IP addresses, other link shorteners and direct app or program downloads are refused. Anyone can report a QR code, and MJX switches off a harmful one.

Is the MJX QR code generator really free?
Yes. A plain QR code is free with no sign-up. Tracked QR codes are free too, up to 10 per email address.
What is the difference between a plain QR and a tracked QR?
A plain QR holds your link itself, so it works with no account but can never be changed or counted. A tracked QR holds a short MJX link that counts each scan and then opens your link, so you can see how often it is scanned and change where it goes.
Can I change the link after the QR is printed?
Yes, for a tracked QR. Open it in My QR codes and save a new link. Every printed copy starts opening the new link. A plain QR cannot be changed.
Do the QR codes expire?
A plain QR keeps working as long as your link works, because it does not pass through MJX at all. A tracked QR keeps working while it is switched on in My QR codes.
What does scan tracking show?
Total scans, unique devices, scans in the last 7 days and 24 hours, a chart of the last 30 days, and the split by device type and operating system. Link previews made by apps like WhatsApp are recorded separately and not counted.
What do you record about the people who scan?
The time, the device type, the operating system, the browser and the network address, so that scans can be counted. You see the counts, not the network addresses. The detail of each scan is deleted after 6 months, and the lifetime total stays.
Which file should I give my printer?
The SVG. It is a vector file, so it stays sharp on a visiting card and on a hoarding. The PNG is for screens and WhatsApp.
Can I put my own logo in the middle?
Not on the free generator. Free QR codes carry the MJX mark in the middle.
Do people need an app to scan it?
No. The camera on almost every Android phone and iPhone reads a QR code and offers to open the link.
Why was my link refused?
To keep tracked links safe for the people who scan them, the generator refuses IP addresses, other link shorteners, links with a password inside them and direct downloads of apps or programs.
How do I report a harmful QR code?
Use the Report a QR page and tell us the code or the link. MJX reviews every report and can switch the code off.
